Road Closure

THUNDER BAY – Road Update – The Ministry of Transportation has a couple of construction updates for the next few days that drivers will want to know about.

The MTO states that Highway 61 will be intermittently closed to traffic at the Chippewa Road intersection on Tuesday, June 27 from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.  Short-term traffic delays can be expected.

As well Highway 671, at the Black Sturgeon Creek Bailey Bridge, will be intermittently closed to traffic starting on Monday, June 26 until Wednesday, June 28.  The closures are expected to last up to twenty minutes each.  Peak traffic hours will be avoided.

These temporary highway closures are necessary to ensure the safety of road users and workers while overhead electrical work is underway.

The MTO apologizes for the inconvenience and urge motorists to schedule their travel to minimize any delays.  Motorists are reminded to obey and follow all traffic signage and flag persons for the safety of both workers and drivers.

For the latest information on highway closures and construction, the public can call 511, MTO’s Road Information Line or check www.ontario.ca/511.
