LU Women’s Hockey Team Heads to Columbus Ohio

THUNDER BAY – SPORTS – The Lakehead women’s hockey club team will be heading to Columbus, Ohio on March 15-19 to compete in the 2017 ACHA Women’s Division 2 National Championships. The tournament is a twelve team, pool-play format with the top team from each three-team pool advancing to the single elimination semi-finals.

The Thunderwolves are heading into the tournament as the first ranked team in the West Division.

Lakehead will play the Aquinas College Saints from Michigan in their opening game Thursday March 16 at 6:00 PM CST. They will then take on the Navy Academy on Friday March 17 at 6:00 PM CST to conclude pool play.

The four pool winners will meet in the semi-finals on Saturday with the two winning teams playing for the ACHA D2 Championship on Sunday at 12:30 PM. Lakehead University will be the first Canadian-based team to compete in the ACHA National tournament.
