Sioux Lookout Mayor Issues Challenge for Breast Cancer Awareness

Sioux Lookout is welcoming efforts by the Ontario Government in helping Indigenous people

SIOUX LOOKOUT – NEWS – “It is my privilege to have another opportunity to raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer, a disease that impacts so many of us,” stated Sioux Lookout Mayor Lawrence. This year will mark the 2nd Annual Mayor’s Fundraiser for Breast Cancer. With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Northwestern Ontario Mayors have been challenged by the Canadian Cancer Society to raise funds for Breast Cancer.

The Northwestern Ontario Mayors Challenge Campaign raises money for Breast Cancer research, a disease  that affects so many of us, including the young and the old – our family, friends, coworkers, etc..

This year’s Municipal Campaign is the “Go Pink for Mayor Lawrance” with the Mayor challenging Council, Municipal Staff and the Community to join in and support the fight against Breast Cancer, through not only fundraising but also raising awareness and supporting all those impacted by this disease.

This year’s events will include:

  • “Fund‐it‐Pink” Drive, challenging everyone to contribute to the Campaign;
  • “Wear‐it‐Pink” Day ‐ October 25, 2016 – Encouraging everyone to raise awareness in the community and surrounding area, by wearing pink; and
  • “Manicure Luncheon & Dessert Auction with Mayor Lawrance” – October 25, 2016 – Inviting everyone to buy tickets for this fundraising event & enjoy lunch and the Dessert Auction with the Mayor. Tickets are $25.

Mayor Lawrance is taking a stand against Breast Cancer and helping to save the lives of women everywhere.

The “Go Pink for Mayor Lawrance” Challenge starts now and runs through Tuesday, October 25th, 2016.
