Thunder Bay, Ont. – SPORTS – It will be a busy yet exciting few days at Lakehead University, as alumni and fans join together to enjoy a weekend of celebration and sports.

The Lakehead Men’s basketball team will be hosting the University of Winnipeg Wesmen in the Thunderdome for non-conference games both Friday and Saturday night at 7:30pm.

‎”Preseason gives us a chance to work on a bunch of things like lineups, rotations and most importantly our team identity, “ comments Coach Furtado.

“Winnipeg ‎is an athletic physical team that can score, a lot like the teams we’ll face in our conference. We need to prepare like every game we do, and compete for the full game,” continued Coach Furtado.

This is will be a great chance for the ‘Wolves to have a strong start to the season and gain momentum for the games to come.

Also during the weekend, Lakehead Alumni will be returning to not only support the men’s basketball team, but also participate in alumni games, whether as an athlete, honorary coach or fan.

Other events that will be taking place are the AD’s symposium, that will begin at 11:00am on Saturday, followed by the reception at 11:30am, where Lakehead will have an opportunity to highlight varsity athletes with their academic achievements.
