Fire Damages House on Cameron Street

THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to a fire in the 200 block of Cameron Street in the south side of the city overnight.

TBFR report, “At approximately 00:30 on Sept 24, 2016 Thunder Bay Fire Rescue was dispatched to a call of smoke coming from a house. The caller was not able to give the proper address and trucks arriving in the area could see and smell smoke but could not find the fire”.

“After a search of the area a home on the 200 block of Cameron Street was found and the first arriving officer announced that he had a working fire in the basement. The crew extended a line to the side of the house and applied water through a basement window. The second arriving truck made a quick search of the smoke filled home and found it to be vacant on all four levels”.

“The smoke was cleared from the home. There was minor damage from the fire but thick smoke was spread throughout the residence”.

There were no injuries involved in this fire and twenty-three fire fighters attended this two-alarm fire. The fire is under investigation. The cause of the fire is not known at this time.

This morning as of 09:30AM EDT, the house is closed off, and a unit of Thunder Bay Fire Rescue remains on the scene.
