THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay peewee and bantam Kings will take to the ice at Fort William First Nation Arena this weekend for the Hockey Northwestern Ontario AAA district championships.

Joining the peewee Kings will be the Northern Selects from the Eastern Zone, who they’ll meet Friday at 6 p.m., and the NWO Stars from the Western Zone.

The Selects will then take on the Stars Saturday at 10 a.m. before Thunder Bay and the Stars square off at 6 p.m. to conclude round robin play.

From there the top two teams will face-off in the title game Sunday at 9 a.m. with the winner advancing to represent the region at the all-Ontario peewee championship April 4-8 in Sudbury.

As for the bantam Kings, they’ll take part in a best-of-three series with the NWO North Stars from the Western Zone.

Action there begins Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Game 2 is slated for Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and should a third and deciding contest be required, it will be held Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m.

The HNO bantam winner shall move to compete at the Ontario provincials, March 28 through April 2 in Rockland, Ont.

Bantam: Kings vs. North Stars 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, March 12
Peewee: Selects vs. Stars 10 a.m.
Bantam: North Stars vs. Kings 11:30 a.m.
Peewee: Stars vs. Kings 6 p.m.
Bantam: Kings vs. North Stars 7:30 p.m.*

Sunday, March 13
Peewee: Final – 1st round robin vs. 2nd round robin 9 a.m.
