BEARDMORE –  Area dignitaries and citizens were on hand to help celebrate the official Grand Opening of the Beardmore Multi-Purpose Centre. The building houses a community Library, Health Centre, Community Room, and a Municipal Office.

“I want to congratulate the Greenstone municipal council and the project partners for their hard work and perseverance in developing this centre. This new facility is the focal point for a number of important community services including a health centre, a library and municipal offices. I am pleased that our government could invest $655,000 through the NOHFC in this new community focused centre which has been identified by the municipality as a priority for the region.,” enthused Michael Gravelle, Minister of Northern Development and Mines, MPP for Thunder Bay-Superior North, and Chair of the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation.

“This Centre is an important cornerstone of the Beardmore Ward and Greenstone. It ensures area residents are able to access important services locally while providing a needed meeting room for local organizations,” commented Mayor Renald Beaulieu, Municipality of Greenstone.

The Centre was built on the site of the former Legion building in the Beardmore Ward of Greenstone. The project was completed with assistance from the Community Adjustment Fund (Government of Canada) and the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (Province of Ontario).
