THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay is getting set to host another world class event. The 2016 Can-Am Police-Fire Games Board of Directors is proud to announce Tbaytel as the presenting sponsor of this prestigious event being hosted in Thunder Bay next July. “This phenomenal, community-wide event requires an outstanding Presenting Sponsor which is truly invested in promoting and supporting Thunder Bay,” says John Hay, Vice-Chair of the 2016 Games Board of Directors. “I’m pleased to announce that we have such a sponsor for the 2016 Thunder Bay Can-Am Police-Fire Games – Tbaytel.”

The games will be the largest multi-sport event held in Thunder Bay since the 1981 Canada Summer Games. The 2016 Games are expected to attract over 1,200 participants and their family members from across North America, generating an estimated $5.7 million in economic benefit for Thunder Bay.

Started in 1977, the Can-Am Police-Fire Games promote physical fitness and camaraderie among and between law enforcement, fire, emergency and protective services personnel and their agencies. The games are held every two years in Canada or the U.S.

The community will have lots to see and do during the week of the games. Local and out-of-town participants will be putting their athletic abilities and job skills to the test in over 30 events ranging from recreational ones like darts, bowling and bocce ball to sports like ice hockey, beach volleyball, track & field to profession-specific competitions like the Toughest Firefighter, Paramedic and Competitor Alive.

Our competitors and their families will be able to see firsthand how beautiful of an area it is and everything it has to offer.”

The Games take place July 16 to 24, 2016. Registration opens this fall.

The Can-Am Police-Fire Games is a not-for-profit event that will support the Thunder Bay Boys & Girls Club and Thunder Bay Special Olympics.
