
THUNDER BAY – LIVING – The 10th annual Neebing Fire/Rescue Association ( NFRA) Tailgate Sale is coming up on Saturday, June 20th from 10 am – 2 pm at 4766 Hwy 61. Media as well as the community and district are invited to attend, participate and celebrate the many good things that these community volunteers do.
NFRA was one of the recipients of June Callwood Outstanding Achievement Award for Volunteerism in 2015.
This recognition comes from their dogged determination to provide funds for needed fire and rescue equipment for Neebing Emergency Services The fundraising efforts of this group continues to be diverse throughout the year and celebrating 10 years with one event, shows dedication and ingenuity. This year’s Tailgate features a new event, The Lumberjack Contest, where contestants 18+ will be timed through a circuit of four woodcraft skills: piling, splitting, nailing and sawing. The best times for this completed circuit will result in prizes for both female and male participants. This event starts at 11am and registration is $5 onsite. Safety apparel should be worn. Tools will be provided.
The event also includes tailgate yard sales, vendors, information booths, penny auction, bake sale, BBQ hosted by Steve Zappitelli from Investors Group, chainsaw art sculpture demonstration by Lee Fedorchuk and fire safety demonstrations and will end with the winner of 10 Bush Cords of Split Birch Firewood being drawn. Tickets for this draw , sponsored by Chaschuk Enterprises and Ray Johnson, if not sold out are available at Neebing Municipal Office. ( 4766 Hwy 61) $5 each or 3/$10.00.
