SACHIGO LAKE FN – Youth from the Sachigo Lake community are headed the Thunder Bay. They left the community located 1000 kilometres from Thunder Bay this morning.

The walk started approximately around 7:30AM this morning. Weather conditions were clear with temperatures at -15c.

A short prayer for their safety and for health was done by Reverend Solomon Beardy.

This is the third fundraising walk that Sachigo Lake First Nation has initiated:

In 2011 Riley Barkman and team walked to Sioux Lookout to raise awareness and over $205,000 for a CT Scanner.

In 2013, the Journey of New Beginnings was completed (Sachigo Lake to Thunder Bay) to fundraise also for the DFC Student Living The team was able to fundraise $75,000 in donations.
