SACHIGO LAKE FN – On Tuesday April 7, 2015, members of Sachigo Lake First Nation will begin the walk from their home community to Thunder Bay, ON to fundraise for the Dennis Franklin Cromarty High School – Student Living Centre. The walk will begin in Sachigo Lake, through the winter road that connects the remote First Nation to the highway via Pickle Lake, to Thunder Bay.

This is the third fundraising walk that Sachigo Lake First Nation has initiated:

  • In 2011 Riley Barkman and team walked to Sioux Lookout to raise awareness and over $205,000 for a CT Scanner.
  • In 2013, the Journey of New Beginnings was completed (Sachigo Lake to Thunder Bay) to fundraise also for the DFC Student Living The team was able to fundraise $75,000 in donations.

On Tuesday April 7, 2015 – the Journey of New Beginnings II begins again.

The distance is 1,000 km, and estimated time for the journey to be completed is two (2) weeks.
