Dramatic temperature change Sunday

Unseasonably warm air is expected to move into Far Northern Ontario Sunday. Temperatures are expected to reach as high as 8 degrees along with some light rain. For the Peawanuck area, some brief freezing rain is possible in the afternoon before the temperatures warm above freezing.

However, a very powerful cold front will cross the north Sunday evening with northwest winds gusting to 60 km/h. The temperature is expected to drop sharply with the frontal passage. Rain will change to snow with a few centimetres possible. Reduced visibility in blowing snow is expected. Many areas will see temperatures drop by 10 to 15 degrees in the span of just a few hours.
