Snow Fall in Thunder Bay Forecast for Weekend

THUNDER BAY – Get the snow shovels out for the weekend. Snow on Saturday from an Alberta Clipper is expected over the weekend.

Special weather statement in effect for:

  • City of Thunder Bay
  • Kenora
  • Dryden
  • Upsula
  • Fort Frances – Atikokan

Significant snowfall amounts are possible this weekend.

Snow associated with an Alberta Clipper are expected to move into Northwestern Ontario tonight. About 5 cm are expected from this area of snow. The snow is expected to temporarily taper off early Saturday morning.

A second and more significant area of snow will move into the regions by Saturday afternoon and persist into the evening. Some portions of Northwestern Ontario may see total snowfall accumulations of 10 to 20 cm by Saturday night. There is still considerable uncertainty regarding the locations of the heaviest snowfall.

There is also a possibility that areas near the Minnesota border may experience ice pellets mixing in with the snow on Saturday.
