THUNDER BAY – Two years ago, when OSSTF District 6A president Paul Caccamo loaded up his truck with 800 small packages of Lindor Chocolate destined to be Chistmas gifts for each member, he had a lot on his mind.

It was a time of Bill 115 protests and a food drive for the less fortunate.

So, with a loaded truck he passed by the Christmas Cheer headquarters to drop off the hundreds of cans, boxes and other non-perishable food destined for families in need.

The next day, arriving at a school to wish his members a Merry Christmas, Paul was shocked to find the back of his truck completely empty.

He had mistakenly given the chocolates purchased for his members to the food drive!

After apologizing to his members, he got a warm reception and found that they were happy to see the chocolates go to needy families.

So in the spirit of giving, and turning our mistakes into something positive, the OSSTF executive has decided to annually give the funds we would use to buy chocolates, one dollar for every member, to the Christmas Cheer Campaign
