TBPS report that this is an ongoing investigation and the police are very limited in the information which can be made public due to the ages of the persons involved.

    Thunder Bay Police share that this incident involves youths who are taking and sharing nude pictures of themselves with friends on the Internet

    Police would like to point out that this activity constitutes Production, Possession and Distributing of Child Pornography since the images are of persons less than 18 years of age. These incidents will be investigated by Police which may result in charges.

    In a media statement, Police say “This is only part of the story. Parents need to have a conversation with their kids regarding this type of activity. Images or activities that involve social media and technology have a long shelf life that can have a deep impact on a person’s future. What you do today can come back and haunt you tomorrow. This type of activity can impact you when you apply for a job or start a new relationship. Most importantly, it is exploitation and the images you create can easily fall into the hands of predators”.
