SUDBURY – SPORTS – The Lakehead University Thunderwolves women’s basketball team earned a 73-51 win over the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks on Friday evening.

The ‘Wolves jumped out to an early lead, opening it up to 43-23 by halftime. They would cruise from there to improve their pre-season record to 6-2, with 1 preseason game remaining tomorrow against Ryerson.

Jylisa Williams led the ‘Wolves once again, scoring 26 points with 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Fellow guard Corina Bruni was a play-making wizard, completing 8 assists with 8 rebounds on the night.

“We started the game very well,” said coach Jon Kreiner. “The ball was moving quickly and our defence created easy scoring opportunities. I was very happy with our rebounding against a very good rebounding team but we turned the ball over too much and at times got confused defending the ball screen. In I was very happy with our level of play and I am looking forward to playing a very good Ryerson team tomorrow.”

Lakehead plays Ryerson tomorrow at 4 pm. Webcast of this game is uncertain at this time, but will be on OUA.TV if possible.
