Friday Evening Accident Results in Charges

THUNDER BAY – Crime Report – Investigators from the Thunder Bay Police Service traffic unit have concluded their investigation into a motorcycle – automobile collision that occurred last Friday afternoon at about 6:30PM EDT.

After their investigation, investigators have determined that the fifty-year-old female driver of a Dodge Dakota pick-up truck was attempting to make a left turn from Arthur Street onto Kingsway Avenue.

A forty-nine year old male driver of a Harley Davidson motorcycle was going eastbound on Arthur St when he was struck by the truck, causing him to be ejected from the motorcycle and then causing him to strike the cab of the truck. He sustained serious but non-life threatening injury.

The driver of the pick-up truck has been charged with Careless Driving.

Reference from the Highway Traffic Act: Careless Driving — s. 130;130. Every person is guilty of the offence of driving carelessly who drives a vehicle or street car on a highway without due care and attention or without reasonable consideration for other persons using the highway and on conviction is liable to a fine of not less than $400 and not more than $2,000 or to imprisonment for a term of not more than six months, or to both, and in addition his or her license or permit may be suspended for a period of not more than two years.
