Thunder Bay Police Arrest Suspect in Robberies

Thunder Bay PoliceTHUNDER BAY – CRIME REPORT – Thunder Bay Police arrested a male over the weekend in conjunction with two recent pharmacy robberies. Officers responded to a suspicious vehicle parked in a parking lot located at the corner of Frederica Street and James Street just before 11:00PM EDT on August 16, 2014.

When officers were running the details of the vehicle they were approached by a male who indicated the vehicle belonged to him. The officers were aware that this male had been recently identified as the suspect responsible for the robberies at the Janzen’s Pharmacy located on North Algoma Street on July 24 and August 13, 2014.

Officers advised the male he was under arrest and the male began to resist. The officers struggle with the male for a period of time when a civilian came to assist until other officers could arrive on scene. Once the male was handcuffed he was escorted to the Balmoral Police Station. During the arrest a quantity of narcotics were also located on the male.

38 year old Stephane Duchesneau has been charged with:

  • Robbery Two Counts
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking

Duchesneau made a court appearance and has been remanded to the District Jail. His next court date is August 19, 2014.
