Thunder Storm WarningTHUNDER BAY – WEATHER – Environment Canada has a Severe Thunderstorm Watch in place across the region.

Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for:

  • Dryden – Vermilion Bay
  • Sioux Narrows – Nestor Falls – Morson
  • Ignace – English River
  • Atikokan – Shebandowan – Quetico Park
  • Upsala – Raith
  • Savant Lake – Sturgeon Lake
  • Sioux Lookout – Eastern Lac Seul

Severe thunderstorm conditions possible – early afternoon to evening.

Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, damaging hail and heavy rain.

A cold front crossing northwestern Ontario is generating a line of thunderstorms. These storms have weakened somewhat as they tend to do prior to afternoon warming. This warming is expected to help intensify the storms once again, followed by a weakening this evening.

Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.

Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.
