EMO – MOTOR SPORTS – The weather forecast said it was going to rain, rain and rain. But with a bit of luck and pouring rain only a mile west of the track, racing got underway at the Emo Speedway for the first time since June 7th. The facility wasn’t left completely unscathed. Just as hot laps were about to start, a small cloud decided to spit a bit. After a 20 minute rain delay, the track was ready to go.

With Greenbush Race Park having cancelled earlier in the day, a couple WISSOTA Modifieds made the trip including Dustin Wahl and Aaron Holton. A driver from Winnipeg, Jerome Guyot was also in attendance. Guyot would pass points leader Jamie Davis for the win in heat one, while Gavin Paull led from start to finish in heat two. In the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, Brady Caul captured his second heat win of the year. In the Street Stocks, Kendal Gamsby started fourth and took the win.

The WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds had an amazing race in the second half, even after Cody Ossachuk’s rear end was destroyed and Brady Caul slammed hard into the front-stretch wall. Christopher Leek and Chuck Lambert dueled it out for ten laps with Lambert hanging on for dear life taking his first win of 2014.

Greenbush driver Aaron Holton made the 2.5 hour trip and even though a midrace accident sent him to the back due to repairs, he restarted 11th and finished 5th.

In the Street Stocks, Gamsby dominated the feature just like the heat, having started in fourth position and taking an early lead. Libby Wilson, on her return back to the track started third and placed a solid second position finish.

The show of the night was in the WISSOTA Modifieds. A total of fourteen cars started the race with Paull on the pole after having two dnf on June 7 due to mechanical issues. As the race went green, Paull took a huge lead over Davis but a caution came out on lap nine which tightened everyone back up. Generally, cautions breed cautions and a couple spins occurred causing a couple quick restarts. Before the last caution, Davis had got by Paull for the lead, but due to the lap not being completed, Paull was able to get it back. With five laps to go, Paull held off a hard driving Davis as he tried every which way to get around for the top spot. They were side by side for the last couple laps, but Paull was able to hold on for his first win of the year in only two nights of racing.

Racing resumes this weekend for the AMSOIL Qualifiers and Midseason Shootout! For more information, please check out www.borderlandracing.com or follow us on twitter @EmoSpeedway. Hot Laps at 7pm and Racing at 7:30pm.
