The government will also create a Northern cabinet committee that will keep the Growth Plan for Northern Ontario on track. Thunder Bay Atikokan MPP Bill Mauro has been suggested to chair the committee but there has been no formal announcement that confirms that position.

“I am pleased to welcome Premier Wynne and my colleagues to Sault Ste. Marie. This cabinet meeting demonstrates the Premier’s commitment to listening to northerners and provides an excellent forum for discussing the unique challenges and opportunities in the North,” enthused David Orazietti, Minister of Natural Resources.
