THUNDER BAY – Sports – The Superior International Junior Hockey League (SIJHL) announced Tuesday Fort Frances Lakers forward Tyler Broderson has been selected the Pizza Hut player of the week for the period concluding Feb. 17, 2013.
SIJHL Honours for the week
In two games this past week the 18-year-old native of St. Louis Park, Minn., registered four points. His efforts helped the Fort Frances skate to a pair of victories.
That put the Lakers into sole possession of second place in the SIJHL standings.
Broderson began his award-wining effort by scoring once and setting up another in a 4-3 triumph over the visiting Minnesota Iron Rangers last Tuesday.
Three nights later he tallied once again. He also picked up another assist helping the Lakers skate to a 5-2 win on the road over the Iron Rangers in Hoyt Lakes.
Broderson is presently riding a modest three-game consecutive goal and point streak. He has accumulated 11 points in nine contests since joining the club last month. His production includes eight tallies, of which two have been game-winners.
Honourable Mention for Pizza Hut player of the week went to Jake Larson, a forward with the Minnesota Wilderness.
At the conclusion of the 2012-13 regular season the SIJHL’s top performer will earn the Pizza Hut player of the year award.
