THUNDER BAY – Editorial – If it were not for the fact things keep changing everything would stay the same. Our regular readers might be asking ‘what’s happening with NetNewsledger?”. We are continuing on our growing evolution onboard the site, adding new features, new writers, and new innovations.

Many of the changes have been in ‘tuning up’ the backend of the site so that it is faster to load, and more user friendly. Brett, our background technology expert has been trimming code, speeding up the site, and making many changes that are geared toward making your time online more enjoyable. A lot of that work has been geared toward the growing audience of readers who are using their superphones to access the site.

We have added an Events Calendar to NNL, that process is designed to allow you to add the events that you want to attend to either your Microsoft Outlook or Ical. As well, you can add events to your Google Calendar too. There is an onboard Google Map for each event that lets you know exactly where the event will be held. Our goal is very simple; providing you with access to a simple and easy to navigate way of finding out what is happening in our region. To submit your events send the details to newsroom@netnewsledger.com and they can be added.

In addition we have added a new ‘Slider’ to the front page. This is designed to give greater speed to loading the site, and make the frontpage more visually appealing. We are tweaking the slider as we go, it follows NetNewsledger’s ‘NASA development’ where like the American Space Program our development happens before your eyes not behind closed doors.

There are several new features coming along that will appear onboard NNL over the coming days. One is going to be what we can only share is going to be a really exciting new video component to the site. We will be featuring ‘Channels’ that allow you to keep up on the latest information in our region.  As well, we are implementing a new improved ‘Readers Ledger’ to the site that will give you the ability to share your views on what is happening in our region.

Have you ever wondered how come something that you enjoy is never carried in the news?

Maybe it is because you are not telling people about your community, your passion, your favourite local sports team, or your club’s activity. We would especially like to find people across Northern Ontario who would like to report on what is happening in their communities. NetNewsledger is seeking your help to solve that issue. You can become one of our contributors and share your passion for writing, photography or video. For more details, contact us at newsroom@netnewsledger.com.

Through the fall, our team have watched our visitor numbers on NetNewsledger.com continue to soar. It is only by your readership that we are continuing on the path toward our goal of becoming Thunder Bay and Northern Ontario’s best Digital Portal for news, information and positive opinions.

We are adding more features, more content from across the region, and around the world. If there is something you think we should be adding, please tell us, our ears are open.

Once again it is you, our readers who are making the efforts of our growing and dedicated team worth the many hours invested into the NetNewsLedger Portal worth it.

Thank you, Meegwetch, Merci, Kiitos, Grazie, and Tika hoki!
