THUNDER BAY – Choosing a holiday menu can be a challenge. Canada’s FoodNetwork is stepping up to help.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year on Food Network Canada!  This holiday season, turn your ‘silent nights’ into food fights and tasty delights with Food Network Canada’s action-packed and festive lineup of 46 holiday specials beginning Monday December 3.  Brimming with intense competition and dramatic eliminations and delectable holiday goodies, Food Network Canada’s holiday schedule has something for everyone this year.

Fierce is the new frosty this season with four brand new, festive yet nail-bitingly suspenseful competition specials: Chopped: Chopping in a Winter Wonderland; Sweet Genius: Holiday Genius; Iron Chef America: Holiday Battle: Food Network vs. Cooking Channel; and Cupcake Wars: Cupcakes on Parade.  Don’t miss Chef Robert Irvine take on his biggest mission ever in Restaurant Impossible: Holiday Impossible.  Back with a two-part festive special, much loved Jamie Oliver provides an inspiring collection of traditional Christmas classics in Jamie Christmas With Bells On.

Among the many holiday special favourites returning to the schedule this year are Gordon Ramsay’s Ultimate Christmas;Unwrapped;Diners, Drive-ins and Dives: A North Pole Christmas; Guy’s Disney Holiday; and Jamie’s Best Ever Christmas Special.

In two, hour long parts, Jamie Christmas With Bells On joins international sensation Jamie Oliver in his Essex home with family and friends for a Christmas celebration and feast to remember.  Jamie lets viewers in on the stress-free, sure-fire ways to cover the classics for a fabulous Christmas dinner and fresh ways to get everyone in the Christmas spirit.  From preparation to final touches, Jamie pulls out all the stops and prepares mouthwatering recipes like Winter Fiesta Tacos, Brussels with Hustle, Savoury Party Snacks, ‘Pimped-Up’ Prosecco, and Boxing Day Turkey Chowder.

Holiday time is here! The chefs open up the first basket to find spiral ham and beautiful Italian cookies. Family memories influence decisions in their first dishes. Santa Claus melons come to town for the entree round, and one of the competitors makes a big holiday mess in the kitchen. Then in the dessert round, the two remaining chefs must turn eggnog and Hanukkah gelt into the perfect final gift for the judges.

Sweet Genius: Holiday Genius(Canadian Premiere)

In the mood for mistletoe and merriment, Chef Ron has a host of holiday surprises for the competitors! In the first test: a little ambassador from the North Pole, a fabled pudding and a classic yuletide candy. The chefs get an icy inspiration for the second test, along with a starchy packaged food and a colourful refreshment. When the last two chefs compete in the final holiday hoorah, the cakes test, they must find a way to make chocolate treats work with beets and a magical inspiration.

Iron Chef America: Holiday Battle: Food Network vs. Cooking Channel(Canadian Premiere)
Thursday December 13 at 9pm ET/11pm PT(encore presentation Friday December 14 at 4pm ET/1pm PT)
In this holiday battle, three chefs representing Food Network, Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto, Robert Irvine and Ted Allen, go head-to-head against three chefs representing Cooking Channel, Iron Chef Michael Symon, Nadia G. (Bitchin’ Kitchen) and BenSargent. The judges for this Food Network vs. Cooking Channel battle are Anthony Anderson, Aarón Sanchez and Bobby Flay.

Restaurant Impossible: Holiday Impossible(Canadian Premiere)
Thursday December 13 at 10pm ET/PT(encore presentation Friday December 14 at 7pm ET/4pm PT)
Chef Robert Irvine is embarking on his biggest mission to date. He’s travelling to Joplin, Missouri, a town devastated by one of the country’s deadliest tornadoes, to help support the local Boys and Girls Club.  Robert’s challenge is two-fold; to transform the Boys and Girls Club into a space both kids and parents will love, and to create a thank-you dinner for 1,000 volunteers in just five hours! With a $30,000 budget, three day deadline, and the help of chef Michael Chiarello and some of Robert’s old Dinner: Impossible crew, it will be all hands on deck for Joplin.

Cupcake Wars: Cupcakes on Parade(Canadian Premiere)

‘Tis the season for cupcakes as four bakers compete for the opportunity to serve their cupcakes at a VIP party for the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival Parade in Chicago.
