THUNDER BAY – Healthbeat – Last Fall, the Nucci Family spearheaded the ‘Candy for Paeds’ campaign in support of the Paediatric Unit of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. The campaign encourages shoppers to buy one of a variety of treats available for sale at participating local businesses, with 100% of proceeds benefitting young patients. So far, close to $10,000 has been raised.

The fundraising initiative has been well-received by local business owners – Jim Peterson, Owner of A to Z Rentals being no exception.

“I tell every customer that comes in to satisfy their sweet tooth and buy a chocolate bar in support of our smallest fighters at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. Liz Nucci started a great fundraising initiative and I was excited to be involved. The funds raised support an excellent cause and her philanthropic engagement is truly inspiring,” said Peterson.

“The sales do very well at A to Z – every time we come to replenish the basket Jim admits that he sells as many chocolate bars as he buys!” joked Mary Nucci, Liz’s mom. “I am very proud of my daughter for organizing the ‘Candy for Paeds’ campaign. She has a lot of dedication and commitment to this cause”.

As the campaign continues to grow, more businesses are selling a variety of chocolate, candy bags, and other sweet treats including: Lowery’s; Maltese; Lowery’s SRC Printing and Imaging; Papa Piccolino’s Pizza; CIBC Bank (Red River Road); Royal Bank (Hodder Ave.); Nucci’s Bake A Deli; Persian Man; Blooms and Baskets; Seasons Gift Shop; European Meats and Deli; Country Fresh Meats and Deli; Bennett’s Bakery; and now, A to Z Rentals.
