Weather AlertTHUNDER BAY – 16:00EDT July 29 2012 – Environment Canada has issued a severe THUNDER STORM WATCH for Thunder Bay.

The weather service advises that persons in or near this area should be on the lookout for adverse weather conditions and take necessary safety precautions.

Severe thunderstorms possible this afternoon and evening.

This is an alert to the potential development of severe thunderstorms with large hail, damaging winds or heavy rainfall.

Several areas of thunderstorms affecting Northwestern Ontario this afternoon have the potential to be severe. Damaging winds to 90 km/h, large hail and torrential downpours giving greater than 50 millimetres of rain within a one hour period will all be possible. An isolated tornado is also possible.
