Weather AlertTHUNDER BAY – 6:20 PM EDT Sunday 22 July 2012 – Environment Canada has issued a Severe thunderstorm warning for Ear Falls, Perrault Falls and Western Lac Seul as well as for Pikangikum, Poplar Hill and MacDowell.

Weather radar at 6:10PM CDT indicated clusters of strong to severe thunderstorms to the north of Red Lake. They are moving east at 50 km/h and will affect little Vermilion lake and Trout Lake by 6:15PM CDT. Large hail of two centimetres and damaging wind gusts to 90 km/h are associated.

The weather service advises as well, “Weather radar at 6:10 PM CDT indicated clusters of strong to severe thunderstorms in Extreme Southern Pikangikum region. They are moving east at 50 km/h and will affect areas around Nungesser lake by 6:15PM CDT. Large hail of two centimetres, and damaging wind gusts to 90 km/h are associated”.

Severe thunderstorms are imminent or occurring in the area. These storms may produce large hail, damaging winds or heavy rainfall. Remember that some severe thunderstorms can also produce tornadoes.
