AFN Election – Shawn Atleo leading after second ballot

Assembly of First NationsTHUNDER BAY – Three votes shy. AFN National Chief Shawn Atleo was only three votes short of winning re-election at the Assembly of First Nations gathering in Toronto. Atleo lead the balloting after the first vote, and continued into the second vote. Pam Palmater is in second place.

The winning chief will need the support of 60% of the voters.

On the second ballot, Palmater increased her vote total to 95 votes. Atleo had 319 votes.

Sixty percent is needed to win.
