Andrea HorwathQUEEN’S PARK – Leaders Ledger – Yesterday I reached out to the Leaders of both parties to discuss the Budget. I’m pleased that both have made efforts to respond and I am now more convinced than ever that we can avoid an election no one wants.

I am glad the Premier has changed his tune of the last few days and is no longer making election threats. We need a thoughtful, steady approach if we are going to work together to deliver results for Ontario.

I am committed to seeing the Budget Bill pass. That commitment hasn’t changed. I have also committed to improve the Bill at committee. In total, all three parties have submitted over 200 amendments to make the Budget stronger.

Now is a time to talk seriously about making minority government work and passing an improved budget that works for Ontario families.

I’m considering carefully what both Leaders have conveyed to me.

Andrea Horwath
Leader, New Democratic Party
