HPW Setting Up to Shake the Pro Wrestling World

Hannibal Pro WrestlingTHUNDER BAY – Sports – There is a new professional wrestling company making the news in Canada. HPW (Hannibal Pro Wrestling) founded by former WWF Superstar “The Genius” Lanny Poffo and retired Canadian wrestler Devon “Hannibal” Nicholson.

Heading the first event ever event will be current TNA and former WWE/WWF/WCW superstar Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner where he will be taking on the Canadian Champion Jeremy Prophet.

The first HPW event is set for May 5th 2012 in Smiths Falls Ontario at the Smiths Falls Community Memorial Centre and will be filmed by the CogecoTV Network.

Nicholson teamed up with his close friend Lanny Poffo (Randy Savage’s brother) earlier this year in hopes of starting the next big wrestling league.

Committed to providing hard hitting, action packed shows the due are looking to give fans an alternative wrestling product.

Poffo has promoted events in the past with his father Angelo Poffo.

His wrestling career has spanned for nearly 40 years, and he is looking to use his experience to make HPW excel.

Devon Nicholson started his wrestling career in 2001 where he trained at the Hart Family Dungeon.

Hannibal started his promoting career in 2004 and has drawn on average 1000 fans per show and up to as many as 4000 in 2008. He’s worked with many WWE/TNA Superstars: Kevin Nash, Scott Stiner, Terry Funk, Vampiro, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Sid Vicious, Jay Lethal, The Honky Tonk Man, Kamala and many more.

Though Hannibal has been promoting for nearly 10 years he has never quite been in charge of a federation and founded HPW in hopes of bringing the biggest events to Canada. Nicholson was one of the primary organizers for last years Macho Man Randy Savage Memorial show which drew 1500 people in Hawkesbury Ontario.
