History: Superior Sail was established in 2000. “We started, hoping to provide a bareboat charter business for experienced sailors so they could explore Lake Superior ‘the worlds greatest fresh water lake’. Not enough captains came to rent our boats – so we changed business plans. I took my captains licence and started providing harbour tours to tourists and unskilled wouldbe sailors,” shares Capt. Gregory Heroux. “Many asked me if I could teach them to sail. I took my ISPA instructors course and started to teach. Now we have four divisions in Sail Superior.com – Harbour tours including private day sailing journeys, Big Lake Adventures (overnight trips) Sail and learn charters (ISPA instruction) and bareboat charters”.
“We have grown from one boat to five – One boat dedicated to Harbour Tours, “Journeyer” 38 feet 12 passengers, one for Big Lake Adventures, ‘Frodo’, 40 feet 6 passengers for overnight 12 for day sails, Varua 36′ 6 passenger for bareboat charters, and two Cal 20 daysailers for students to learn from”.
