Assaults Top Police Response on Wednesday Night

NNLCRIMEbeatTHUNDER BAY – Crimebeat – Thunder Bay Police Service are reporting that officers dealt with two different incidents of assault overnight. On February 29, 2012 at approximately 7:00PM. Police attended a southside residence in response to a 49 year old male bleeding from the hand as a result of defending himself from a knife.

The victim was apparently in an altercation with a 41 year old female known to him. Injuries to the victim were non-life threatening. A female suspect was taken into custody at the scene. That person has been charged with assault with a weapon and held for court. The investigation is continuing.

Next, at 11:45PM, uniformed officers responded to a 911 call at a south side residence in response to an assault with a weapon. A 24 year old male victim sustained facial injuries and is being treated at hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

An 18 year old male accused who is known to the victim has been arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault . The accused will be held for court. This investigation is also continuing.
