Thunder Bay Police on Scene of Armed Standoff

THUNDER BAY – Crimebeat – Thunder Bay Police Service officers are on scene this morning at a residence in the 800 block of Northern Avenue. Officers are attempting to speak with a person of interest in a robbery of a Mac’s Store at 708 May Street which occurred just before 3:30 a.m. this morning.

A male armed with a gun robbed the convenience store and fled scene. There were no injuries. Police officers including the K-9 Unit searched the area. A residence in the 800 block of Northern Avenue is now the focus as the investigation continues.

The Thunder Bay Police Service request that the public avoid the area around Northern Avenue west of May Street until the situation is resolved.
