PACI Hosts Senior Boy’s ‘Thunder Volley 2011’

THUNDER BAY – The fourth annual senior boy’s ‘Thunder Volley’ tournament will be taking place this weekend at Lakehead’s Port Arthur Collegiate Institute gymnasium.

The action begins Friday from 4pm to 10pm, and continues Saturday from 8am to 6pm. These games are facilitated by the Lakehead Women’s volleyball team under the direction of their coach, Chris Green.

The competition includes 10 Senior Boys teams from Sioux Lookout, Manitouwadge, Nipigon-Red Rock, St. Ignatius, St.Patrick’s, Westgate, Churchill, LaVerendrye, Dennis Franklin Crommarty, and Hammarskjold.

Leading the pack is Churchill High’s team who is undefeated in league play.

Tournament organizer and Lakehead women’s head coach Chris Green said, “I am excited to once again have our Women’s Volleyball Team host another prime event for the local school community. We have 10 teams competing for area supremacy, as these teams make their run to the playoffs in their seasons. I wish all the teams success this weekend and we look forward to the high flying and powerful action to be provided by these local athletes.”
