Charges Laid in Andras Court Stabbing Incident

Thunder Bay Police Arrest SuspectTHUNDER BAY – Updating the incident that happened at Andras Court on Cumberland Street on Saturday morning, Thunder Bay Police report that twenty-nine year old Eli Ayom John, a Thunder Bay resident is facing several charges. The suspect is currently in custody at the Thunder Bay District Jail.

The charges include one count of Aggravated Assault, two counts of Assault with a Weapon, two charges of Uttering a Threat, one charge of Resisting a Peace Officer, and one count of Theft over $5000.

Witnesses have told NetNewsledger that the officers responding to the scene operated in a very professional manner. When the suspect was outside of Andras Court, the police in seeking to have the man put down his weapon gave him every opportunity to do so, before taking steps to put him down with a tazer.

The condition of the 77 year old victim has been upgraded to stable condition in hospital. According to earlier reports, the stabbing victim was in serious condition.

The accused will be back in court on Tuesday October 12, 2011.
