windfarmTHUNDER BAY – Wind Concerns Ontario applauds Tim Hudak’s commitment to cancel the FIT program and Sumsung Deal.Today Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak announced his plan to save Ontario ratepayers billions of dollars by ending the expensive and deeply controversial feed-in-tariff program and the $7 billion dollar Samsung deal under the Green Energy Act.

“This is great news for all Ontarians. There is finally a candidate for Premier with a plan to end waste and mismanagement within Ontario’s energy sector and listen to the concerns of everyday people who are struggling to pay their bills”, said John Laforet, President of Wind Concerns Ontario. “Ontarians who are fed up with Dalton McGuinty’s Green Energy Act and the spikes to their energy bills have an option; they can use their ballots in the fall to become energy voters, or they can sign up for another four years of corporate welfare to the wind industry and further hydro rate spikes.”

Wind Concerns Ontario is calling on all political parties to support a moratorium on all industrial wind development, fund an independent third party epidemiological health study and environmental impact studies, restore local democracy to the decision making process, end the feed-in-tariff program for industrial wind energy and take action against the irresponsibly approved industrial wind turbines that are harming the health and well-being of Ontario families and communities.

To drive home this message, on May 15th John Laforet will kick off Wind Concerns Ontario’s ‘Truth about Turbines Tour’ in Thunder Bay. The tour will cover 6,000 kilometres over forty-four days with visits to thirty-six communities. It will include 16 Liberal held ridings, 8 ridings held by the Progressive Conservatives and one NDP riding. The tour’s purpose is to raise awareness about overwhelming opposition to irresponsible industrial wind development and to organize communities to take direct political action in this fall’s election.
