Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada Hosting Webcast

Residendial SchoolVANCOUVER – The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC) is hosting an International Forum in Vancouver, British Columbia from March 1-3, 2011 at the Sheraton Wall Centre. Individuals who cannot attend are invited to watch the proceedings live on webcast at trc-nrc.ca.

The purpose of the forum is to begin dialogue surrounding the establishment of a National Research Centre that will be a permanent resource to educate all Canadians on what happened within the Residential Schools.

Experts from around the world will share their expertise with the TRC on their own truth and reconciliation processes, historical archiving, transitional justice and more.

Webcast schedule:

• Tuesday March 1, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. PST. 11:30 a.m. to 2:15p.m. EST

• Wednesday March 2, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. PST. 11:30 a.m. to 1:15p.m. EST

• Thursday March 3, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. PST. 11:30 a.m. to 1:45p.m. EST

The webcast will be available in both English and French.

Lunch keynote speakers include: Stephen Smith, Executive Director, Shoah Foundation on Tuesday March 1, 2011 from noon – 1:15 p.m. PST 9:00a.m. to 10:15a.m. EST

Phil Fontaine, President Ishkonigan Consulting and Mediation and former National Chief, Assembly of First Nations on Wednesday March 2, 2011 from noon – 1:15 p.m. PST.
