THUNDER BAY – Local hockey teams were winners last weekend in tournament play in the United States. Leona Scanlon reports, “Three local Peewee A teams swept their tournament this past weekend in Wisconsin Dells”.

Westfort Maroons:

  • 1st game Westfort Maroons vs. Glenview from Illinois. Score was Westfort Maroons 3, Glenview 2.
  • 2nd game Westfort Maroons vs. Chicago Bruins. Score Maroons 6-2. Hattrick Branden Mandaric
  • 3rd game Westfort Maroons vs. Meramec (Illinois) Score 7-0 for Maroons, Hattrick, Neebin Wabasse. Shutout, Tomas Perkovic.
  • Championship game. Westfort Maroons vs. Chicago Bruins. Score 2-1 with Adam Zgrych scoring with 0.01 seconds left on the clock.

“We were 5 and 0, with 3 shutouts for Karey Kakepetum and only allowed 4 goals scored on us for the whole tournament,” adds Scanlon.
