DRYDEN – The Dryden Walleye Masters is pleased to announce that Shaw Cable Systems will be the title sponsor for the 2011 Walleye Masters Tournament taking place on June 18th and 19th.
“We are very excited about this year’s tournament and in particular Shaw coming on board as a title sponsor,” says tournament chair, Joe Barron. “The weigh-in will be televised on Shaw television live across northwestern Ontario on Shaw TV on both Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday we will be bringing the top ten (10) teams from Saturday, with their boats, into the arena for weigh-in.”
This part of the tournament will not only be televised across northwestern Ontario, but will also be televised live, nationally all across Canada, on CJBN-TV. On Shaw Direct channel 320, Bell Express Vu 224 and Shaw Cable channel 8 in Dryden.
Dryden District Chamber of Commerce chair, Carrie Schultz advises, “As part of the Chamber’s strategic plan, the Chamber will not be participating directly in the organization or running of the tournament. The Chamber will be focusing our efforts on activities that benefit our membership directly.”
Shaw Walleye Masters committee is very excited with this years additions, including the arrival of TecVana and the Izumi family, as well as the re-introducing the Junior Walleye Masters to take place on Saturday.
“We are planning on a prize payout for the top fifteen (15) places with top prize being $15,000. This is the highest payout for any walleye tournament in northwestern Ontario or Manitoba,” says Barron. “With this additional support from Shaw, our total cash and prizes will be over $40,000.”
