THUNDER BAY – Expect change! What do you think of the new look of NetNewsledger.com? Change and growth are the themes for 2011. Our overall scope of coverage on NetNewsledger.com, TheSleepingGiant.ca, and www.theRingofFire.ca throughout 2011 and beyond will expand.

With a growing group of enthusiastic dedicated Thunder Bay Region individuals, including you, our readers, we are determined to make sure that you know what is happening as it happens, and that your arts, music and entertainment news is making sure you know what is coming up, and why you should go to local events.

Planning is coming together on these projects, and over the coming weeks you will likely start noticing that the NNL Group will be changing a lot. We are bringing on reporters who will be covering events, including live-events throughout the year.

NNL is partnering with the Multi-Media Group, and others, to help expand the coverage of events in the music and entertainment field in our city.

Some of the new additions to our growing efforts are going to involve yet more change to NetNewsledger.com. Some of the features on NetNewsledger.com will be migrating over to The Sleeping Giant. They will include the Arts and Entertainment, Food Now, Ski Conditions, Horoscope, some of the “softer news” items.

On the front page of NetNewsledger.com we are shortening the page. That will allow you a faster page load, which is a real plus. On the top menu, you can click to see what is covered in each section on the site.

Over on thesleepinggiant.ca you can expect many things. The Sleeping Giant will be a teacher. Over the coming year, on Food Now, you will learn how to make authentic bannock; learn how to make Pulla, the famous Finnish Coffee bread; or how to make some dishes new to the region, like Calgary Style Ginger Fried Beef! There will be lots of local flavour from across our region to share with you!

You will be able to contribute as well. The Sleeping Giant will offer you the opportunity to share your events, your recipes, and your favourites from across the region. The Sleeping Giant will offer information for you on how to keep your computer up and running as well. As an online site, we see that is as important as you keeping your sidewalks clear for mail and newspaper delivery.

There is change in the air in Thunder Bay, and the Sleeping Giant, who has been here since the beginning will serve as an amazing guide helping you as the region continues to emerge into the future.

For many across the region, the changes that are coming are ones that our team feel that you will really enjoy. As always everything that we do is because of you. Your readership is making everything possible.

Thank you so much!

James Murray
