Volunteer Thunder BayTHUNDER BAY – Are you looking for more to do? Across Thunder Bay there are many opportunities to get involved in and help make things in our city a better place.

Here are some of the volunteer opportunities that are avaliable right now in the city:

Sunday November 21 and November 28
Thunder Bay Wheelchair Association
Description: Wheelchair Curling requires volunteers for on ice assistance, (knowledge of curling not essential) Volunteers would help push wheelchairs, positioning rocks, assisting players with setting up their shots. Volunteers should be 14 or older.
Location: Fort William Curling Club
Time: 3pm-5:45pm

Sunday December 5, 8, 12, 19
Thunder Bay Wheelchair Association

Saturday December 4
Salvation Army Santa Shuffle
Description: Volunteers are needed to assist with the Salvation Army Santa Shuffle. Duties include: Registration tables (entering new registrants &counting pledge money), handing out t-shirts and race kit, and helping with food preparation, course marshals and finish line attendants
Location: Current River Rec Centre (450 Dewe Ave.)
Time: 8:30am- 11:45am
NOTE: Course marshals and finish line will be outside jobs

Monday December 6
Canadian Cancer Society N.W.R
Description: Volunteers will be helping to assemble, label and mail “Christmas Thank Yous” for Canadian Cancer Society community partners and leadership volunteers. This is a great opportunity to track community hours.
Location: Canadian Cancer Society, 920 Tungsten St
Time: 5:00pm-7:00pm

Tuesday, December 7
Shelter House
Description: volunteers will assist with supper service. It includes rotating between serving dinner, cleaning dishes, making sandwiches and clean-up
Location: Shelter House
Time: 6:30pm- 9pm

Wednesday, December 8
Canadian Red Cross
Description: Upon arrive you will be given a tour of the facility and then assist with cleaning walkers and wheelchairs. This medical equipment is loaned out and requires cleaning.
Location: Canadian Red Cross (111 Johnston Ave)
Time: 4:30pm-6pm

Saturday, December 11
Big Brothers Big Sisters
Description: Volunteers will assist with the Big Brother/Sister Christmas party with crafts, games and serving lunch.
Location: 559 South Syndicate (Big Brother Big Sister Building)
Time: 11:00-1:30pm

Friday December 31
MS Society
Description: Volunteers are needed to fill the positions of “course marshall”-to direct runners around the course
Location: The Running Room (1-379 Main Street C)
Time: 4pm-7pm
