The company was established in 1907 as Barton and Fisher hardware. Maier Hardware has been locally owned and operated for 93 years.

As an example of how small local businesses differ from the big box stores, this morning I picked up some light bulbs at Maier Hardware, being “green” I wanted some of the new energy efficient outdoor lights.
However, the base of the new bulbs is bigger than the base on the fixture.
I called Maier Hardware to see if there was a fix, or if I could return the bulbs for something else.
Instead of being trapped in a voice mail system of frustration, a real person answered the telephone. Then Jono, one of the employees at Maier offered to bring the extensions that were needed over on his lunch hour.
Maier Hardware is offering the kind of service that you only hear about in Tom Peter’s seminars on companies with a true dedication to excellence.
