THUNDER BAY – Take A Hike, one of Thunder Bay’s locally owned and operated businesses are relocating their store in October to a 3,000 square foot space on Bay Street immediately across from the famous Hoito restaurant.   Store owner Diane Petryna says that she is excited about the move and opportunity for growth.

“The new location offers more retail space, good traffic, and ample, conveniently-located customer parking. The rich history, sense of community and growing vibrancy within the Bay & Algoma area were also important in our decision”, she said.  “In the meantime we have a lot of work to do.”

Take A Hike is a locally-owned outdoor lifestyle store that opened in 1996.   For the past 14 years it has been located in downtown Fort William on corner of Brodie and Victoria.

Petryna has been active in a number of neighbourhood, community and business initiatives.  She currently serves as an advisory member of the Retail Council of Canada’s independent retail division.

The shop owner has sought changes in the downtown Fort William core, to enhance public safety and make the area more vibrant.
