LONDON – Thunder Bay Italia Juventus have been knocked out of the 2010 Ontario Outdoor Cup, after falling to A.E.K London F.C. 1-0 in the quarter final round of the competition. The game took place Saturday, July 7th, 2010, at the Hellenic Community Centre (Southdale Road Stadium), in London, Ontario.

A goal by Haris Cekic in the 80th minute was all that separated the two teams, who spent the majority of the game locked in a fierce battle. Several players on each team received yellow cards, but Italia Juventus went down a man in the 82nd minute when defenseman Michael Lacaria was shown a straight red card. Despite being down to ten men, Italia Juventus nearly equalized late in the game when Adam Augruso forced the A.E.K. London keeper to make a game-winning save in the 89th minute.

Italia Juventus Head Coach Ron Badani had this to say about his team’s performance: “The boys made Thunder Bay very proud. They proved that they can play with the elite teams of Ontario. A.E.K London was very impressed of the quality of our team, and felt that we thoroughly entertained their home town fans.”
