THUNDER BAY – The District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board (TBDSSAB) announced that demolition work to prepare the site for its new building in the downtown South core has begun.  “We are very pleased that work is underway to prepare the site”, notes Councillor Iain Angus, TBDSSAB Chair.

Asbestos removal has been completed and crews will begin demolition of buildings on the site over the next few days. The tender for utilities relocation and installation closes June 30 and it is intended that the foundation will be completed this fall to allow for construction to continue over the winter months.

The DSSAB plans to issue the main tender for the building in late August with a targeted move-in date of late 2011 or early 2012.
