THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Chill were handed their first loss of the season today, falling to the Rochester Thunder 1-0 at Rochester Technical Community College.
Midfielder Chris Andre scored for the Thunder in the 12th minute, which turned out to be the game winning goal. The Chill’s hopes of fighting back were dealt a blow in the 85th minute when William Zardetto was sent off with a red card.
The Chill finished their three game road trip with a record of two wins, and one loss. “Three games in three days caught up with us today, we came out flat,” said Chill Head Coach Tony Colistro. “The Thunder capitalized on their one opportunity, and we were unable to create any of our own,” rued Colistro.
Chill Star forward Gustavo Oliviera was rested today after picking up a slight knock in last night’s game. Oliveira will be ready to go for this week’s home opener.
The Chill faces the Springfield Demize in their home opener this week at Chapples Park, Thunder Bay, Ontario. The first game of the two-game series takes place on Thursday, June 10th at 7:30 p.m. (EDT) followed by the rubber match on Friday, June 11th kicking off at 7:30 p.m. (EDT)
