“The Rock” Set to put the Smackdown on the XFL Experience

SPORTS – The XFL, an alternative professional football league that filed bankruptcy proceedings earlier this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has been purchased for $15 million by a group led by actor/producer Dwayne Johnson.

The football league was revived in 2018, The XFL was first founded by Vince McMahon, the brains behind the sports entertainment World Wrestling Entertainment.

Johnson, who made his first steps as “The Rock”, the most electrifying name in sports entertainment was one of the headline stars and WWE© champions for years.

Johnson is now equally famous for his acting career.

The group purchasing the XFL also includes Dany Garcia, owner of a diverse number of businesses and a producer for movies Johnson starred in, and Gerry Cardinale’s RedBird Capital.

The new owners plan to shift the XFL brand and develop into an entirely new focus for the football league.
