Crime Updates from Thunder Bay Police

THUNDER BAY – CRIME – Thunder Bay Police report that twenty-two-year old Jeffrey Luke Achneepineskum has been charged in the murder of Rene Sortolov. Achneepineskum appeared via video in court today. Achneepineskum is facing a 2nd Degree Murder charge in connection with the homicide. His next court date is October 27, 2014.

Thunder Bay PolicePolice also report that charges in the July 1st homicide have been upgraded for one of the suspects. Charges against thirty-one year old Carl Spencer Rae have been upgraded to Second Degree Murder in connection with the death of fifty-two-year old Christopher Adams. Rae had been initially charged with Aggravated Assault.

Christopher Aadams died on July 8, 2014 following an incident in which he was the victim of an assault on July 1, 2014.

Carl Spencer Rae’s next court date is November 14, 2014.

Police have also made an arrest in a case of impaired driving. Thunder Bay Police report that “A patrol officer noticed a truck travelling at a high rate of speed eastbound on Red River Road. The officer initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle on High Street near Hillcrest Park just after midnight on October 24, 2104.

The officer directed the male to get out of his vehicle and arrested him for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. The male got out of the vehicle and struggled with the officer as he attempted to handcuff him. The driver took off running into nearby yards. The male was eventually apprehended by other officers that arrived in the area to assist.

Jack William Robinson, 27 years old from Thunder Bay, has been charged with Impaired Operation of A Motor Vehicle, Failure to Provide A Breath Sample, Resisting Arrest and Assaulting a Police Officer. He remains in custody with a court date of October 27, 2014.
