Update on Two Armed Men in Atikokan

UPDATE (Mar 5, 5:50 a.m. EST): OPP continues to advise residents in Atikokan to shelter-in-place as officers investigate an incident involving two possibly armed individuals at large. The suspects are described as male, wearing in dark clothing and masks.

As a precaution, if you are in the affected area, please continue to shelter-in-place. Remain indoors with doors and windows locked, and blinds/curtains closed. If you are outdoors, please seek shelter in a secure location. Others should avoid the area until further notice. If you’re required to go to work, despite the shelter-in-place advisory, ensure you follow the shelter-in-place policy at your workplace.

Do not approach or engage with the suspect(s). Call 9-1-1 immediately if you see or encounter them, or if you notice anything suspicious. To remain anonymous, tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at ontariocrimestoppers.ca. In an emergency, call 9-1-1.

Officers are taking every precaution necessary to resolve this situation and appreciate your cooperation and understanding. Updates will be provided as information becomes available.
