THUNDER BAY — February 11, 2026 — Thunder Bay Fire Rescue (TBFR) responded early Wednesday morning to a fire involving a garbage can inside a commercial building on 66 Court Street South.
TBFR says crews were dispatched at 2:42 a.m. The building was vacant at the time, and firefighters quickly extinguished the fire.

TBFR advises following manufacturer recommendations and storing or disposing of potentially hazardous materials in appropriate containers, ideally outside a home or commercial building, to reduce the risk of fire spread if ignition occurs.
