TBFR Responds to Small Fire Inside Vacant Court Street Building

THUNDER BAY — February 11, 2026 — Thunder Bay Fire Rescue (TBFR) responded early Wednesday morning to a fire involving a garbage can inside a commercial building on 66 Court Street South.

TBFR says crews were dispatched at 2:42 a.m. The building was vacant at the time, and firefighters quickly extinguished the fire.

Resources Deployed

Fire Rescue reports the response included:

  • 5 pumpers

  • 1 aerial ladder

  • 1 command vehicle

Fire Safety Reminder

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue is reminding residents and business owners to use caution when disposing of materials that could pose a fire risk. TBFR advises following manufacturer recommendations and storing or disposing of potentially hazardous materials in appropriate containers, ideally outside a home or commercial building, to reduce the risk of fire spread if ignition occurs.
